VOLUME OF CYLINDER

Aim : To derive the formulae for the volume of a cylinder by an activity method

Material Required : Clay, ruler, newspaper

Procedure :

Step 1- Make a right circular cylinder by rolling the clay on newspaper.

Let R be the radius of the base of the cylinder and H be the height of the cylinder



Step 2- Divide the cylinder into 8 equal parts from the top as shown.


Step3 - Arrrange the 8 parts alternately as shown below.

Step 4 - Observe length, breadth and height of cuboid obtained and calculate its volume .
